On Hold Local Stigmatic 1990 Al Pacino movie DVD only released in New York

 The Local Stigmatic 1990

The Local Stigmatic is one of Al Pacino's labors of love. The film was shot in the 1980s and shown at the Museum of Modern Art in 1990. But the Pacino movie was never released commercially in theatres. It is now on DVD.

The story is about two cockney misfits with a passion for greyhound racing. In between, they beat up a famous film star, among their various random acts of violence. It's a dark story about a symbiotic pair, based on a play by Heathcote Williams. He wrote it when he was 22, which perhaps explains the lack of cohesion and plot, and the greater focus on actions and passions. Also stars Paul Guilfoyle. This is a movie for fans of Al Pacino, The Actors Studio and avant guarde cinema, an acquired taste. The best part of the DVD are the extras, full commentary by Pacino, as well as a prologue discussion between Pacino and director David Wheeler of the Actors Studio. For light shipping the DVD comes in a protective paper sleeve, no artwork. Shipping is $3 in the U.S., $4 to Canada and $6 to Europe and Australia.
