You are buying a pre-viewed, ORIGINAL VHS wrestling video, WWF (World Wrestling Federation ) Hulkamania.
The first in a series of a whopping six volumes (VHS) dedicated to the (former) WWF World Champion and Hall of Fame member. Hogan had plenty of challengers to his title after winning it in January of 1984, and the match where Hogan initially won the belt is featured on this tape!
From the mecca of Madison Square Garden, possibly the world's most famous arena, on January 23, 1984, Hulk Hogan challenges the Iron Sheik (accompanied by "Ayatollah" Freddie Blassie) for the Championship. The Sheik is on a high after capturing the title from Bob Backlund after Backlund's manager, Arnold Skaaland threw in the towel, ending Backlund's six-year reign! The Iron Sheik would love nothing better than to not only best Backlund's record, but eclipse the longest reign of all-time, held by Bruno Sammartino, with nearly double the time! Of course, as we all know, that was not to be, as the era of Hulkamania would be born on this night. Relive the glorious debut of Hulkamania with his title victory!
In other matches:
- Hogan doesn't always get a free moment, and has certainly faced a variety of challengers! On April 6 of 1984 from St. Louis, Missouri's Kiel Auditorium, Hogan faces Big John Studd in a steel cage match! Of course, Studd isn't alone. Manager Bobby "the Brain" Heenan may not be inside the cage, but he can still offer advice to his man. Heenan and Hogan go back a long way, and have never got along with each other, so Heenan will do anything he can to insure that the WWF Championship comes to the Heenan Family!
- The Brain isn't the only manager in the WWF that would love to have the World Championship in their camp. Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, managed by "The Mouth of the South", Jimmy Hart, challenges Hogan on August 4, 1984 at the Philadelphia Spectrum in Philadelphia, PA.
- You don't have to have a manager to want to have the prestige of being WWF World Champion. A former American Wrestling Association (AWA) foe, "Dr. D" David Schultz challenges "The Hulkster" on June 17, 1984 at Minneapolis' Met Center in a match dubbed "The Minneapolis Massacre" due to the amount of blood lost by both men during the bout.
- Bobby Heenan and Big John Studd want Happy Holidays for themselves, which means the WWF World Championship around the waist of Studd. On December 10, 1984, the six foot, ten inch tall Studd challenges Hogan to a $15,000 bodyslam match from New Jersey's Byrne Meadowlands Arena (now the Continental Airlines Arena). If Hogan can slam the giant Studd, he wins $15,000! Of course, if Studd wins, he gets Hogan's WWF World Championship!
