WWF/WWE ORIGINAL WRESTLING VHS INVASION '92

You are buying a pre-viewed, ORIGINAL VHS video, WWF (World Wrestling Federation) Invasion '92.

This video, released by Coliseum Video (The WWF's video distribution company during the 1980s) contains several videos and segments filmed exclusively for Coliseum Video throughout 1991.

Your hosts for this video are "Commander" Sean Mooney and First Officer Lord Alfred Hayes in a parody of "Star Trek" on the World Wrestling Federation "Starcruiser". They also provide commentary exclusive to Coliseum Video.

Here's the matches:

  • Hulk Hogan tussels with Typhoon (accompanied by his manager, "The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart, in Corpus Christi, TX on December 2, 1991. This match took place shortly after Typhoon's rulebreaking turn against Hogan.

  • From the same card, two future WWE Hall of Fame members tussle as legendary Ric Flair battles future legend, Shawn Michaels (who at the time was still one half of The Rockers tag team with Marty Jannetty).

This early singles outing from Shawn would be one of the matches that set the seeds for Shawn's violent split with Jannetty early next year, although the dissension was not yet teased between the two.

  • Ric Flair challenges WWF InterContinental Champion Bret "Hitman" Hart, with Bret's championship belt on the line!

The match was taped prior to Flair's win at the 1992 Royal Rumble in New Haven, CT on November 13, 1991, shortly after Flair's entry into the WWF, but aired on this tape after the Rumble.

At the time, Flair is billed as "The Real World's Champion", and wears the NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) World Heavyweight Championship to the ring, stemming from his release from the NWA without them returning his mandatory deposit on the belt. A later lawsuit would result in Flair being forced to return the belt to them, and the WWF would use an old tag team belt for Flair's gimmick, having it video distorted on TV to cover up having to return the NWA belt, claiming Flair was not allowed to show the belt on WWF TV, per a WWF internal ruling.

Flair is accompanied to the ring by his Executive Consultant, Mr. Perfect. Prior to the match, the announcers throw to footage from Ric Flair's win at the 1992 Royal Rumble, showing the last few eliminations and Flair's controversial win, scoring him the WWF Heavyweight Championship.

The match is preceeded by a great Flair promo.

  • In tag team action, WWF Tag Team Champions, The Legion of Doom (The Road Warriors, Hawk & Animal) take on the challenge from The Beverly Brothers (Beau and Blake, accompanied by their manager, The Genius)!

  • In a special segment called "Manager Cam", the tape shifts it's focus from the wrestlers in the ring to the manager outside the ring, to help show what a manager goes through during a match. The manager in this segment is Sensational Sherri, and her charge is "The Million Dollar Man", Ted Dibiase. His opponent is a former WWF InterContinental Champion, Tito Santana, who now goes by the nickname, "El Matador" and dresses similar to a traditional bullfighter.

  • In singles action, Big Bossman goes up against the mighty Hercules (managed by The Doctor of Style, Slick!)

  • From a show originating from Cornwall, Ontario in the Great White North of Canada on September 10, 1991, the Million Dollar Champion Virgil battles his former boss (not to mention the former Champion!) the "The Million Dollar Man", Ted Dibiase! "Macho Man" Randy Savage acts as the special guest referee!

  • In 1991, Jake "The Snake" Roberts appeared to help The Ultimate Warrior overcome his fear of The Undertaker, but betrayed the trust the Warrior had in him, revealing he was always aligned with The Undertaker. The two would team together throughout the year. Here, in the Tag Team Match of the Month, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan teams with "Macho Man" Randy Savage to take on the duo of Roberts and The Undertaker!

  • In the second Coliseum Video exclusive special segment, The Nasty Boys (Knobbs and Saggs) visit a video store, demanding to see where the Nasty Boys videos are located. Having beaten up the manager for not having enough Nasty Boys tapes in stock, they proceed to order 3,500 Nasty Boys videos.

(For the record, there is no "Nasty Boys" video, so don't email us asking us to locate one for you.)

Tape is in excellent condition, but box shows much wear.
