Offered today from my personal collection of high end antique knives is a very neat & rare old Valley Forge Cutlery Co. Newark, N.J. bone handle 2 Bld. Swell End knife. Handle is a nice looking yellowish brown bone and in pretty good condition for age, with a crack on front side and a small crack near center pin on back side along with a chip out of the edge near back bolster. Bolsters are nickel silver as is the large Arrow shaped shield. Both blades show staining & sharpening & the main blade shows some pitting on back side. They both have good snap both ways & half stop too, especially the larger blade. Tangs on both blades are marked VALLEY FORGE in an arch over CUTLERY CO. over NEWARK, N.J. over MADE IN U.S.A. The back of tang on main blade has the VF in circle stamping too, which was used after 1916. Valley Forge Cutlery Co. was in business from 1916 to 1950, and I estimate this knife to come from the early 1920`s. A very rare knife from a quality maker & highly sought out by collectors, so don`t miss out!
