I was born and brought up in New York State, but I have really found a home since moving to Washington.
My interest in crafts was kindled at the age of eight, when I learned to knit. All else followed: crocheting, knitting, tatting, needlepoint, latch hook, macramé (yes, I am that old), and woodworking. I began designing over twenty-five years ago, when I was laid up for twelve weeks in a cast, following an accident. I was bored to death and desperate for something to do.
My designs are based on whatever crazy ideas come into my head. My thirty years as a professional seamstress led me to design my unique leather purses, which are based on quilt designs. I particularly enjoy Christmas themes, which I create for woodworking, quilting, needlepoint, and crocheting. When I latch onto an idea, I tend to run with it and create an entire series of designs in the same medium. I have found that I have a compulsion to design. I have notes jotted down for so many ideas that I will not live long enough to create them all.
I have been selling my designs for over twenty years, all across the country, in different venues. Lately, I have been seeing interest in my designs from abroad. In the past five years, I have expanded my sales to include some hand-made items from my own designs.
