This beautiful 24 k gold Thangka Painting portrays the Kalachakra, a Yidam of the Gelupa. The Kalachakra has four heads twelve pairs of arms and one pair of legs. He stands in the Yab Yum position ( sexual union ) with his partner Vishvamata ( the Mother of all ). Kalachakra tramples Hindu Deities under his feet. With his right leg he crushes Kamadeva, the god of love, and his left, Rudra, a form of shiva. Beside Kamdeva lies his spouse, Rati, and beside Rudra his wife, Parvati. Below the lotus which Kalachakra stands, there is a downward triangle pointing downward. This is the magic dagger or phurpa. This Phurpa strikes down dangers and enemies of the Buddhist faith. The edges of the phurpa have been lined with skulls representing conquering death and putting an end to the cycle of rebirth

At the top of the flaming aureole lies Kalachakra partner , Hevajra.. He is the Buddhist version of the hindu god Shiva. The king of dancers.

In this painting we have the Kalichakra Yidam diety. Kalachakra also means wheel of time and is often portrayed as the Kalachakra mandala.

This painting is so detailed, colorful and incredible. I know whoever gets it is going to be very pleased with it.
