Conch Shell Thangka Thagka Nepal Himalayan Art

This is a lovely little Conch shell Thangka from Nepal. Very nice detail. I brought it back with me from my last trip there knowing someone would love to have it. The gold is a mixed gold of a lower grade of 10 to 14 k but the artwork is quite nice and it has a nice #D effect. The Mantra Ohm Mana Pad Mi Hum is a nice touch around the center.

The Conch shell is known as the trumpet of victory and symbolizes the spoken word. In the epic writing Mahabharata the conch was blown at the beginning of battle to help ensure victory. Its sound is associated with the primeval and the origin of elements.

No flaws noticed. The canvas is in great shape as well.

The painting will be shipped unframed in a hard tube.
