Commemorative Pottery Dish
for Queen Elizabeth II's Coronation - 1953

This pottery dish has a gilt rim
and is decorated with a sepia photograph of Queen Elizabeth II
in a medallion surrounded by british flags, a lion & a Unicorn
the royal crown & inscribed
"Coronation Queen Elizabeth II 1953
it also has the Royal Crown & cypher in Gilt & red
and the date "2nd June 1953"

It measures 5 1/2 inches in diameter

I've been told by a british friend that this dish is part of a trio
that was given to every school child at the time of the coronation

The matching mug is also for sale on this site
(However I've never found the matching bowl to complete the trio.)

This dish is in very good condition with no cracks
but has crazing commensurate with it's age
It is obvious that it was mass produced and there are minor flaws in the glazing
