THE ART OF STAYING SANE by Joseph Barth. Boston: Beacon Press, 1948. Forward by Pierre Van Paassen. Hardcover. No dust jacket. First Edition, probable First Printing. Flatsigned by Joseph Barth on title page. In light green board wraps, the book measures 5.0" x 8.25" and contains 192 pages. This is not a reprint, not ex-library, not book-of-month club edition. This is an extremely scarce true first edition of Joseph Barth's philosophical interpretation of individual spirituality. The book is unquestionably deserving of cover restoration or rebinding.

THE ART OF STAYING SANE hardbound cover is in only Fair condition due to missing spine flap and several discoloration spots on rear cover, neither of which affect the binding or interior pages. The binding remains very tight, while the interior text pages are in Very Good- condition, unmarked other than for Barth signature. There is age-toning to the pages and the blank front and rear end-pages have the original glued dust jacket flaps, the rear one being loose inside book
