One of the most popular and influential bands of the 80s and 90s, fronted by the lovely and talented Natalie Merchant, these five New Yorkers founded 10,000 Maniacs .
The band rapidly grew in popularity and would play for for President Clinton at MTV's Inaugural Ball in 1993. The same year, the Maniacs played MTV Unplugged with special guest David Byrne, formerly of the Talking Heads.
After MTV Unplugged, it was announced Natalie Merchant would leave the band for a solo career. MTV Unplugged remains the best-selling album of the Maniacs.
