This is a Vintage 1930's-1950's Cake Carrier, made by Regal. The cover is made of bright copper- toned aluminum and measures about 6" high by 11" wide, and has an appealing chunky shape- (I almost kept this one for myself, but I have several others already!) The carrying handle is make of Black Bakelite plastic and is firmly held together with a wing nut inside. The double-fingerhold shape is unique, and the style of the whole carrier makes me think it dates back as far as the 1930's. It is gently used, with a little light wear and tear to give it vintage charm. The cake plate and closing knobs are plain aluminum. On the bottom of the plate is engraved: REGAL Quality Aluminum, REGAL WARE, INC., Kewaskum, WIS. A nice piece to use or add to a collection of vintage kitchenware!
