Elvis Presley's rapid and astronomical rise from rockabilly singer to country-wide phenomenon took less than two years, and was capped by his first film appearance in 1956's LOVE ME TENDER. Over the course of the next 13 years, Elvis would star in 31 narrative films, making at least two (but usually more) every year. ELVIS: THE KING IN HOLLYWOOD tells the story of how Elvis first came to be featured in Hollywood movies and enjoyed great box office success for over a decade. Not only is the story of Elvis's life during the period detailed, but numerous clips from his films illustrate his career as an actor. Performances of the King's latest hits were, of course, commonplace occurrences in the films he appeared in; and no documentary about his Hollywood career would be complete without the music and singing sequences from those films. Also featured is live footage from the concert films made later in his career.
