La historia se desarrolla en una isla tropical donde hay dos cabañas. En una viven María y su padre Anselmo, un
viejo pescador y en la otra, Pablo y Doroteo. Ambos están enamorados de María pero ella prefiere a Pablo. De la ciudad
regresa Magdalena, con quien su padre Anselmo está enfadado porque se casó sin su consentimiento. Magdalena le pide
perdón a su padre y éste la perdona y le hace una fiesta. Llegan dos tipos que aprovechando que Anselmo está borracho
