Six-part drama series, starring John Thaw as Jim Proctor
founder of a successful double glazing company, and Sarah
Lancashire as Carol Parker, his employee and long-term girlfriend.
In the first instalment, big changes are afoot as Jim decides
to hand over the running of the business to his dashing young
nephew, and Carol gets the wrong end of the stick when she
overhears them discussing the future of the business.
Paul Duggan continues to prey on Carol's affections, and
begins to sow seeds of discontent among the sales force.
Will Jim Procter realise in time that his successor at Albery
Glass is also his worst enemy?
Things are looking rosy for Carol and Proctor, who have
recently become engaged : but Duggan isn't so easily swayed from
his devious plans and begins to work his charm on Carol, as well as
working on a deal that could spell the end of Albery Glass forever.
Unaware of Carol's infidelities, Proctor exposes Duggan's
conniving and confronts him about his reasons for wanting to
sabotage the company : at the risk of revealing his own dirty
washing in the process
Proctor battles to save Albery to prove his worth to Carol,
little realising what has been going on behind his back, but as
Duggan's new company begins to flourish, his efforts appear to be
Proctor's world comes crashing down around him as the true
nature of his relationship with Duggan is revealed. Meanwhile, a
pregnant Carol struggles to cope with her predicament as she
puzzles over the identity of her unborn child's father, deciding to
confront both men at the same time. Last in series of the
