Rare tobacciano in this Bakelite and wood cigar/cigarette box! From Evans Mfg, Cincinnati, Ohio, this is estimated from somewhere between 1930's-1950's. Measures 4.25" x 3.25" x 2". Base is solid bakelite, an early plastic. Lid is veneer wood with English horsemen galloping through a countryside, print signed Hadley Frost. This print has a gold tape frame and clear plastic(?) over it. Unable to find anything even remotely close to this in my research.

Good vintage condition! The bakelite is in fine condition, no cracks, chips, scratches or stains. There is a faint aromatic scent from the interior which leads me to think it may have been used for cigars. The wood lid does not have chips or cracks, but the interior layer is peeling to the inside, (see pic. 4). There are some problems with the top, upper left corner has protective plastic peeling, upper corner missing, (see 1st pic). If desiring to put into use, I suggest addressing these issues so they don't become worse.

As a display piece this would be great in his office. As a collector of tobacciano, this would be a great addition!
This could also be re-purposed as a key holder, trinket box or money stash.

I lean towards vintage textiles, pottery, glass, kitchen/dining items. I hope you will find my items worth viewing and add me to your favorite shops list.
