Leslie " Bullet Joe " Bush was a Major League Baseball pitcher from 1912 - 1928. Bullet Joe Bush won 195 MLB games and finished his career with more than 1,300 strikeouts, 225 complete games, 35 shutouts, and an a lifetime ERA of 3.51. In 1916, while pitching for the Philadelphia Athletics, Bullet Joe threw a no-hitter versus the Cleveland Indians at Shibe Park. Later, in 1922, Bush joined the New York Yankees and had the best season of his career, winning 26 games and carrying an ERA of 3.31. Bullet Joe Bush played for three (3) World Series Champion teams: the 1913 Philadelphia Athletics, the 1918 Boston Red Sox, and the 1923 New York Yankees. Bullet Joe Bush is credited with having been the first pitcher to throw the forkball in the majors.
