On Hold hey, 50g Bobinsana Leaf (Calliandra Angustifolia) Wildcrafted Ecuador by Chachi

Bobinsana (Calliandra angustifolia) is a small, riparian tree species of the Amazon Basin.

In Peru today, bobinsana is a well respected remedy for joint, bone, and muscle pain in arthritis. It is also a popular local remedy for uterine cancer. Thus far, only one laboratory study has been published on bobinsana. Researchers in Sweden evaluated the anti-inflammatory action of an extract of the tree's bark they did report that it showed an action that may help explain why bobinsana has such a long-standing reputation for arthritis and rheumatism in South American herbal medicine.

The chemical constituents in bobinsana are not well documented. It is believed to contain harmala alkaloids. Harmala alkaloids often work as MAOIs. This being the case Bobinsana could interfere with natural, as well as unnatural, drugs especially anti-depressants. An MAOI combined with another MAOI or SSRI could possibly lead to serotonin syndrome, in severe causes this can cause permanent injury or death.

Traditionally Bobinsana is taken by tincture in aguardiente or a strong tea. All parts of the plant are used for healing. The Shipibo-Conibo people of the Peruvian Amazon prepare a medicinal tincture from the bark of the tree, which they use to treat rheumatism and other ailments.

Bobinsana alone is not hallucinogenic, it is considered a plant teacher and is sometimes added to a brew known as ayahuasca. This is said to help the shaman connect to and learn from the plants. It is also used to produce strong lucid dreaming. Among other benefits Bobinsana is said to open the heart and give space for it to heal from intense grief, loss and sadness.

The plant has many common names, including bobinsana (alternately, bobinzana, bobensana, or

bubinsana), balata, bubinianal, bushiglla, capabo, chipero, cigana, koprupi, kori-sacha, kuanti,

neweí, quinilla blanca, semein, sháwi, yacu yutzu, and yopoyo.

Caution: Bobinsana is traditionally used as a contraceptive in Peru. While there is no research to confirm this possible action, those who are pregnant or seeking to get pregnant should probably avoid this plant.
