Jon Lester pitched 7.2 strong innings (3 hits 3 walks 7 strikeouts) and Shane Victorino led the offense (3 hits, hbp, 2 rbi 2 runs scored, stolen base) and the Red Sox started their run to the World Championship with a 12-2 thrashing of the Rays.
The 14 hit Bosox onslaught included 5 doubles (Napoli, Ortiz, Middlebrooks, gomes, and Saltalamacchia.
In a losing cause the Rays got home runs from Ben Zobrist and Sean Rodriguez.
