Item Description
This is a regular box office season ticket not a paper printout.
Ticket is dated 7/23/88.
The Pale Hose jumped out to a 5-3 lead with a 5 run 3rd inning then Mike Smithson came in from the bullpen to slam the door shut (6.2 in, 1 hit, 5k) and the Carmine Hose went on to 11-5 win.
Leading the Bosox 20 hit barrage was Ellis Burks (4 hit Day), Marty Barrett & Jody Reed (3 hits each) and Wade Boggs continued his assault on the 3000 hit plateau with 2 hits.
Evidently the Red Sox front office had seen enough of the starting pitcher, Steve Curry. After giving up 5 runs in the 3rd inning he took his last shower in a major league locker room and was released after the game.
The White Sox, who scored their 5 runs on only 5 hits got a 2 hit day from Dave Gallagher.
Condition is a bit on the rough side with numerous creases but still a nice keepsake of the oldest ballpark in MLB and a long standing team rivalry. A collectible ticket to mark from your list.
