SAMPLE RECIPES:

Amish Friendship Bread Starter
1 (.25-oz) pkg active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water
3 cup all-purpose flour, divided
3 cup white sugar, divided
3 cup warm milk (110-degrees), divided
In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in water. Let stand 10 minutes. In a 2-quart glass, plastic or ceramic container (do not use metal containers or utensils), combine 1 cup flour and 1 cup sugar. Mix thoroughly or flour will lump when milk is added. Slowly stir in 1 cup milk and dissolved yeast mixture. Cover loosely and let stand at room temperature until bubble. Consider this day 1 of the 10-day cycle. On days 2 through 4 stir starter with a spoon. Day 5 stir in 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar and 1 cup milk. Days 6 through 9 stir only. Day 10 stir in 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar and 1 cup milk. Remove 1 or 2 cups to make your first bread, give other 1-cup starters to friends along with the recipe. Store the remaining starter in a container in the refrigerator and begin the 10-day process over again. You can also freeze this starter in 1-cup measures for later use. Frozen starter will take at least 3 hours at room temperature to thaw before using.
Amish Friendship Bread:

1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp baking soda
1 lg box instant vanilla pudding
1 to 1-1/2 cup Friendship bread starter
Do not use any metal utensils or bowl. In a large bowl mix the sugar, flour, salt, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda and instant pudding mix. Add the oil, vanilla, eggs, milk and Friendship bread starter. Mix well. Divide the batter and pour into two large loaf pans, well buttered and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Dust the top of the batter with sugar and cinnamon. Bake for 1 hour at 350-degrees.

Rev Taylor’s Coconut Cream Pie
Note: This recipe was given to me by a blue ribbon chef who was working in a cozy restaurant in the mountains outside of Boulder, Colorado, called “Rev Taylor’s”. If you’e unable to find the coconut instant pudding, just use all anilla instant pudding. But be sure to add 1 teaspoon of coconut extract. This pie freezes very well. Bon appetit!
1 qt whipping cream
5 cup milk
12 oz instant vanilla pudding mix
12 oz coconut instant pudding mix
2 cup sweetened shredded coconut
3 prebaked (8-inch) pie shells
1 Tbsp vanilla extract
Bake and cool pie shells ahead of time. In a large mixing bowl, whip the whipping cream until stiff. Then to cream, add milk, vanilla and pudding mixes while continuing to beat on a slower speed. Fold in 2 cups of coconut. Divide the mixture into three 8-inch pie shells and shape into mounds. Cover with Cool Whip and sprinkle with toasted coconut.
