For those who have only seen the movie starring Jim Carrey and the lovely Cameron Diaz, you have only seen the tip of the iceberg. The movie was loosely (VERY loosely) adapted from the extremely popular Dark Horse Comic of the same name, and has produced as many spinoffs as Spider-Man and The X-Men have for Marvel Comics.
In the comic series, The Mask senses the evil within people, and as in the movie, loosens inhibitions. It also makes the wearer indestructible and allows them to create any kind of weapon (similar to the movie).
In The Hunt for Green October (a spoof of the Tom Clancy novel and film, The Hunt for Red October), The Mask continues to find its way into the hands of unwitting wearers. With the power of The Mask, it's certain that whoever wears it will cause all kinds of mayhem.
This issue tells the story of Emily Tuttle, a young woman who spent her years in high school in misery being picked on by her classmates and still harbours a grudge today. A perfect opportunity arises when Emily comes across The Mask!
Now, armed with the power of The Mask, it's time for Emily to serve up some revenge on the classmates who made her the butt of everyone's jokes during high school. There's no doubt that she will be able to "dish it out" as good as she took it with The Mask on her side!
There's an old saying, "He (or in this case, she) Who Laughs Last, Laughs Best". It's probably a safe bet that it's time for Emily to laugh and she will be the one laughing last now!
