Marlon Brando's first and last directorial effort may not have been what he had in mind. But movie viewers and critics seem more impressed as the years pass. Brando went way over budget, over time and over his head in this psychological cowboy drama. He plays one-half a robbery team whose job got botched. Years later, he finds the partner who betrayed him living an idyl life in a small town where he is, of all things, sheriff. Who has a lovely step-daughter coming of age....
Beautiful on scene locations shot in Monterray. This DVD version is one of only two top-flight out of dozens, as so many are poor quality transfers and have hissing in places. This small company did a great job. The DVD is like new, watched once, very colorful and clean. No frills, but menus and scene selection and one of the very few exceptional digital transfers of this controversial film.
