A BIOGRAPHY

" Every American whose heart went out in sympathy and admiration to a dauntless First Lady during the terrible, unforgettable days of November, 1963, will want to read this intimate and touching biography of Jacqueline Kennedy.
It reveals as never before the soul and stature of the person who has set a shining standard for American womanhood. "

" The book outlines countless little details of her childhood, early family life, and school days. Jacqueline Bouvier is seen as the popular debutante, then as the bride of young Senator Jack Kennedy and the loving mother of Caroline and John, in a wealth of personal anecdotes.
The sources of her innate dignity, deep faith, and quiet self-sufficiency unfold in the telling.
Her impact on Washington life and American taste as the gracious mistress of the White House is recalled, and her triumphs abroad as our unofficial ambassadress.
And finally, there is the story of her courage and nobility in the face of tragedy, inspiring a grief-stricken nation after President Kennedy's assassination.
With insight and understanding, the book touches on her present life with family and children, and evaluates her probable future role and influence in American life. "

" Mrs. Kennedy, during her time in the White House, also was interviewed and chronicled by Gordon Langley Hall, who is noted for many books and articles on famous personalities.
His series on her, titled "An Individualist in the White House," appeared widely in both American and Canadian newspapers.
Drawing on much personal information and previously unpublished data,
Gordon Langley Hall and Ann Pinchot have fashioned a remarkable biography of a remarkable woman- a book that Americans and friends of America will keep, reread and treasure for years to come. "

This book is in fair to good condition but the dust jacket is very worn with several tears.
The cover has moderate edgewear and some aging stains.
