Offered today from my personal collection of ancient coins is a rare Roman coin from about 1700 years ago! You can hold a small piece of history in your hands for the very reasonable price of just $10.00 plus shipping! The description of coin follows with a brief history behind this piece if known. Otherwise it will be sold as an "Unattributed coin".
This coin was in a batch of uncleaned coins purchased as a large lot and was cleaned in distilled water for about two months, but could be cleaned further if you wish & more details will become visible.
This coin is being offered as "unattributed" as I am not sure which emperor this was made for. It looks like one of the Valen emperors, most likely Valentinian I to me, which would date it from 364-375AD. This is definitely an "Emperor dragging Captive coin", and it can clearly be seen on the reverse. Many emperors liked this design and used it on their own coins. So, if anybody recognizes this person please let me know & I will add it to the item description. It is pretty sharp & with a bit more cleaning it would be a fine coin for any collection. Coin is bronze and weight is 1.91 grams.
