This listing is for 2 Lismore pattern wine glasses / clarets by Waterford in excellent condition. They are crafted out of 33% full lead crystal and feature striking diamond and wedge cuts with a leaf motif for a natural and lively look. Ireland's spectacular Lismore Castle provided the inspiration for this pattern 50 years ago. These glasses have the old authentic acid Waterford mark with upper case and lower case letters. The tags shown in the picture are on the foot of each glass.
When the brothers George and William Penrose founded the Waterford Glass House in 1783, they made a bold promise - to make crystal in "as fine a quality as any in Europe in the most elegant style." They had in hand the old secrets of mingling minerals and glass to create a crystal of beautiful and mysterious qualities and radiated a distinctive, silvery white brilliance, which Waterford's artists enhanced with deeply - cut ornamentation that gave the finished pieces a vivacious sparkle.
