This wonderful vintage stoneware jug features a beautiful iridescent glaze which appears to be dark blue drip over brown on its top section. I believe this is called an Albany glaze or Albany slip. The bottom part of the piece is the usual stoneware putty color with very faint speckles in it. It is glazed inside and out, and the bottom is unglazed.
The jug measures approximately 6 inches high, and 4 3/4 inches wide including its applied handle. It is nice and heavy. It is primitively made and a bit rough around the edges on the bottom. There are one or two of the usual tiny glaze pops done during the manufacturing process. There are no chips, cracks, or other issues. I would consider this lovely piece to be in mint condition. The perfect addition to your collection!
