eBlueJay: Vintage Shoe Shine Wooden Bucket with Handle and Lid

This listing is for an attractive wooden bucket with a handle and a lid. I have been told that this is a shoe shine bucket. This bucket has a lot of charm and character, in my opinion. I am not sure of the age of this bucket, but I was told it was older, and it looks old to me. The manner in which the bucket is constructed does not look like cheap, recent construction to me. The bucket is on the heavy side, and is very sturdy. It looks like it is made out of thick wood. The wood has nicks, marks, and surface wear to it. The inside of the bucket has a few areas of black residue. There is also a small area of clear residue that is dried on the bottom. There are some reddish areas along the inside wall of the bucket. The measurement of the bucket across the top opening, from outside wall to outside wall is approximately 7.5 inches. The height of the bucket, without the lid is approximately 7 inches. The grain of the wood on the lid is gorgeous. It has dramatic streaks of dark wood. The wood of the lid has nicks, marks and wear on it. There is wear to the outside rim of the lid. The rest of the bucket has a plain brown wood color to it with some subtle graining. The handle looks like it is made out of one long piece of wood. The grain on the handle is attractive, but not as dramatic as the graining on the lid. The handle is attached to the outside sides of the bucket with a wooden peg. There is a metal staple like thing at the point where the peg meets the outside of the bucket. The inside of the bucket has a round metal piece where the peg has gone through. The handle swings freely. The bucket looks like it was formed in pieces, and fitted together. There is a strip of metal around the top and bottom of the bucket. The lid has a long wooden piece attached to it, which has a piece of black rubber stapled to it in several places. The side of this has some red markings on the side of it, similar to the red markings inside the bucket. This can be seen in the side view of the lid grip. It has dirt in the grooves of it, as can be seen in the photo. The lid says 50 cents on it. It looks like this was written in black magic marker. I bought this bucket at an antique store, and did not pay 50 cents for it. The 50 cents was either a past price, or perhaps the cost of whatever items were stored in the bucket.
