This listing is for a vintage hardcover book, entitled Skystone and Silver The Collector’s Book of Southwest Indian Jewelry. The book was written by Carl Rosnek and Joseph Stacey. The book has 166 pages. This is a large, heavy book. The copyright listed in the book is 1976. The inside flap gives the original price as 35.00 until March 1977, and 39.95 after that. There is also a penciled in price of 60.00. This is the only copy of this book I have ever seen. That is why I bought this book, although it does have a few flaws. Please note this book has a light odor, and a large inscription on one of the front pages. The person wrote in ink in huge letters their name, and that this book was their property. That page could be cut out, as it has no printed information on it. This is a wonderful book. Not only does it have many fabulous photographs, including many historical photographs of Native Americans, but also it has many photographs of fabulous jewelry. I enjoyed reading this book. I learned a lot from it, and I especially enjoyed the sections where the jewelry dealers spoke about their personal experiences. The book flap says that ‘Long the quiet treasures of a discerning few, Southwest Indian Jewelry has passed in a few swift years to a prime collectible. Now, for the aficionado and collector, here is a comprehensive look at Southwest Indian Jewelry from its prehistoric roots to its prominent place in today’s world of high fashion and anti-inflation investment. With a rich and authoritative text featuring 35 mini-chapters by a wide range of Indian jewelry experts and the brilliant lens work of outstanding Southwest photographers, Skystone and Silver captures all the beauty, craftsmanship, and romance of this dynamic art.’ The flap adds that the book includes essential facts on how to detect the increasingly sophisticated fakes. Overall, other than the light odor and the large inscription on one of the front pages, this book is in very good condition. The book pages are of a heavy weight, textured light brown color. The dust jacket has a few small rips in it, and some creasing, bending, scratches and pressure marks on it. Please email if you would like more photos. Smoke and pet free home.
