Babbitt's 1776 Powder Soap, Antique Lithographed Victorian Trade Card Advertising. Depicts a gentleman and 4 ladies who appear to be Little People, dressed in 18th-century costume. Very charming illustration. "Soap for all nations. Cleanliness is the scale of civilization. A fair trial is all I ask for it." Back side has advertising, "Keep your record clean. Get Babbitt's Best soap, and your hide at least is safe." Card measures 5-7/8 by 3-3/4 inches. Light surface wear on the face side; some glue residue near the top edge on the back.

This item is an original card from a late-nineteenth century scrapbook. The image, printed by color lithography, is a chromolithograph, or "chromo."
