The S.N.A.K.E. armor (System: Neutralizer - Armed Kloaking Equipment) is an advanced, prototype combat armor system devised by Doctor Venom in1983to be used against the Joe team. While extremely expensive to produce, the large and bulky S.N.A.K.E. armor suits are invaluable to standard infantry forces in a firefight. S.N.A.K.E. suits have these capabilities:
Ability Enhancements: a S.N.A.K.E. unit affords its pilot exceptional increases in physical ability. Special targeting and environmental sensors increase accuracy, and the sheer bulk and hydraulic power of the S.N.A.K.E.'s design enhances the operator's strength considerably while he is in the armor. The S.N.A.K.E.'s pilot experiences these ability score enhancements:
Body Armor: the S.N.A.K.E. armor suits have been designed to withstand all manner of extreme physical assaults. Covered with inch thick armor plating that completely shields their pilots from incoming attacks as well as a bullet proof viewing shield, the S.N.A.K.E. suits provide Incredible protection against offensive activity, protection that breaks down as follows:
Brain-Wave Scanner: every suit of S.N.A.K.E. armor is armed with a miniature version of Doctor Venom's brain-wave scanner. This device allows Doctor Venom (or anybody with the proper control panel) to operate the S.N.A.K.E. armor as he sees fit, compelling the pilot of the suit to do whatever he wishes. This accounts for the Psc modifier listed above.
Fire Extinguishing System: mounted on the back legs of the S.N.A.K.E armor, this system is included for two reasons: to protect the pilot from being burnt alive in the event of a catastrophic flamethrower failure, and to extinguish dangerous flames in the immediate vicinity if necessary. This foam-based system can extinguish flames as well.
Life Support Systems: the S.N.A.K.E. suit has been designed to not only protect its pilot from direct assault, but to keep him alive in the event of an air-tainting environmental occurrence in his immediate vicinity. The armor is equipped with a supply of highly compressed oxygen that is good for a full twenty four hour period, which is usually enough to get its pilot to safety.
Modular Weapons Array: what makes the S.N.A.K.E. armor so versatile is the simple fact that its weapons systems are highly modular. Both of the S.N.A.K.E.'s lower arms have a special bracket that allow it to be quickly fitted with any one of four implements of destruction. As such, each S.N.A.K.E. suit can be armed with two of the following weapons at any given time:
* Remote Claw Arm: this weapon allows the S.N.A.K.E. to punch, grasp, or crush an opponent.
* Remote Flame Thrower Arm: this weapon fires powerful jets of flame that inflict Remarkable damage with each strike, and has enough fuel for ten streaming attacks.
* Remote Machine Gun Arm: this fully automatic firearm fires a hail of lead that inflicts Excellent Shooting damage per burst, and has enough ammunition for twenty turns of fire.
* Remote Rocket Projectile: this one-shot rocket launcher fires a deadly projectile that inflicts damage to everybody within one mile of its impact site. It has these vehicular statistics:
Sensor Array: in addition to the basic sensors that serve to enhance its pilot's, the S.N.A.K.E. armor is equipped with a fully functional night vision system. Making use of the infrared portion of the light spectrum, this array can also spy intense heat sources when present.
Hasbro bought Milton Bradley in 1984, ending 124 years of family ownership. In 1985 Hasbro and Milton Bradley created the Commando Attack Board Game. In 1986 they created this trading card set featuring painted package art from G.I.Joe: A Real American Hero figures, vehicles, playsets and accessories and stills from the G.I.Joe: A Real American Hero cartoon.

There are 192 cards and 12 stickers total. Eight cards and one sticker were included in each pack. Evidence has been shown that each pack had the exact same assortment, so if you bought two packs with the same card visible through the blister, you can expect the same card and sticker assortment in those two packs. Although these cards are marked as Series One, Series Two was never released in the US.

These trading cards are extremely popular on the secondary market, largely due to the unadorned packaging artwork painted by Hector Garrido for Coleman, LiPuma, Segal & Morrill, which handled Hasbro's G.I.Joe packaging design and illustration from 1969-1989.

The G.I.Joe: A Real American Hero cartoon was co-produced by Marvel Productions and Sunbow Productions. Sunbow's staff wrote scripts based on character and vehicle designs provided by Hasbro, then artists at Marvel Productions drew storyboards based on these scripts. Animation for all 95 episodes was outsourced to Toei in Japan, along with the 1987 feature, G.I.Joe: The Movie. The art shown below was storyboarded by Marvel Productions and illustrated by animators at Toei.
