Hans Holzer has traveled the wide world over trailing the elusive spirits of souls anxious to be sent beyond the Veil.  This fourth volume by the man renowned as the Ghost Hunter is about some of the most active and amusing ghosts in the world -- The Lively Ghosts of Ireland.

Holzer and a medium, in most cases his psychic friend Sybil Leek, investigated many spectral phenomena, which took them from the rocky Kerry Coast to the windswept hills of Tara.  They found disembodied Irish characters everywhere -- clinging to castle walls and inhabiting drafty rectories -- all anxious to reveal their melancholy stories.  Among the characters are:

-- An 18th century swordsman defending the hidden treasure of Bellyheigue Castle, a proud house now gutted by fire.

-- Princess Orloff, originally Angelica Parrott of Western Ireland, who returned home to haunt a jealous sister.

-- Lilith, a pretty young inhabitant of eerie Skryne Castle, strangled with foxglove fronds in 1740.

-- Merry Masters, a six-year-old who refused to forget the horror of her death in 1846 and continues to haunt Dublin's Shelburne Hotel.

-- The Ghost at Number 118 Summerhill, Dublin, a spectre that sends workmen into panic.
