Profile 1973 Walter Leland Cronkite Cbs News Radio Tv Vintage Article

Original media vintage magazine article for PROFILE of Walter Leland Cronkite, CBS News Radio TV correspondent and managing editor of CBS Evening News With Walter Cronkite. After Vice President Agnew resigned he did an unusual thing. Winding up an expanded broadcast that night, he offered a personal word. Viewers would be mistaken, he said, if they thought he was delighted by this turn of events. He said he liked Mr. Agnew when he first met him in 1967 and that although they had become ideological enemies, there is no feeling of revenge here, but one of great pity. As Americans we all share his tragedy. There have been a few exceptions when his view and feeling did show through, but mostly they were unintentional. There was the time his voice broke with emotion as he reported the death of President Kennedy. There was the time in Chicago in 1968 when he railed against Democratic convention leaders after a CBS colleague was punched on the convention floor. This 1973 unique old one page radio and television industry trade article would display beautifully matted and framed.
