This is a large Kansas souvenir plate measuring approximately 11 inches in diameter.
In the upper center it includes the Kansas nickname the "Sunflower State" flanked on both sides by Sunflowers, representing the official State flower.
At top center are two horseback riders riding through town on horses wearing cowboy hats with Main Street shops visible as they ride. The shop in the center says "GENERAL STORE". The caption below is "OLD ABILENE TOWN".
Next is a beautiful JAYHAWK representing the sports teams of the University of Kansas (KU), in Lawrence, Kansas. The size and colors of this pretty bird really stand out on this plate.
Next is a sandstone building with "WELCOME TO FORT LARNED" on the front representing "FORT LARNED" of Larned Kansas. It is a preserved army post dating from the mid 1800's. Originally established to protect those passing through and trading along the Santa Fe Trail from Indian raids.
Next is the "WORLD'S LARGEST GRAIN ELEVATOR", located SW of Wichita, in Haysville Kansas. "This 2,717-foot-long cement structure is listed as the largest grain elevator in the world. In 1998,an explosion at the facility killed seven people, and heavily damaged the structure. The elevator is composed of 246 individual 30-foot- by 120-foot-tall connected concrete tanks in three parallel rows, all under a single headworks. The structure had a capacity of over 20 million bushels of wheat, enough to supply all the bread consumed in America in a six week period." (source: The Land Use Database under "Big Grain Elevator").
Next is a picture of WHEAT. Kansas was the TOP wheat producing US State for 2011 and 2012 according to Statista -- The Statistics Portal online. Wheat is a very important crop for the state of Kansas.
Next is a bare tree with a path leading to it and two nooses hanging from it's branches. There are three tombstones in front of it and below it is written "BOOT HILL CEMETERY & HANGMAN'S TREE", representing Dodge City, Kansas. "[T]he first graveyard named "Boot Hill" was at Dodge City, Kansas. The term alludes to the fact that many of its occupants were cowboys who "died with their boots on," the implication here being they died violently, as in gunfights or by hanging, and not of natural causes."(Source: Wikipedia under "Boot Hill"). Near the cemetery is the "Hangman's Tree" where a number of individuals were hanged. Must have been handy to have that cemetery nearby!
Last but not least pictured near the middle of the plate is the "EISENHOWER CHAPEL", also known as the "Place of Meditation". Like the "OLD ABILENE TOWN" mentioned above, it also represents Abilene, Kansas. It is a chapel and also is home to the tombs of the 34th President of the United States of America, Dwight David "Ike" Eisenhower and his wife Mamie. Dwight's boyhood home was in Abilene and his Presidential Library and Museum are also located there.
The back of this plate reads:

Under or on the blue strip it reads:

It is not real clear whether the blue strip is intended to highlight or cover that statement -- so consider this plate for Deco purposes only to be on the safe side. There is a hook attached to the back for hanging on the wall.
It is a lovely beige with a brown stripe trimming the edge.
