The [New] Wizard of Oz, publ.Bobbs Merrill c.mid 1930s. New appears on the title page only, not on cover. Author - L. Frank Baum. 208 pgs. 1903 last copyright date. Medium green cloth boards with black decorations. Cover design like that used on 1939 movie version book. No dj. 8 black, orange and yellow color plates plus numerous other b&w illustrations by W.W. Denslow. Endpapers have dark tan stains. Pencil signature on front endpaper. Pencil price on inside front cover. One color plate coming loose, has small tape-mended tear on reverse, and red margin stain. Some other small margin spots/stains/fingermarks but interior mostly amazingly clean. Cover has soil, color fading on spine, dented corners and spine ends, and crease across front. This appears to be a fairly rare edition which appeared only briefly before being supplanted by the 1939 movie version.
