These are plastic KITS to build the structures shown in the pictures.
The structures have been painted or 'weathered' by Pola for the pictures.
Any locomotives, railroad cars, vehicles, cargo, figures, trees or
background structures in the pictures are not included in the kit
by the manufacturer unless listed above as being included.

CONDITION - New in Shrink-Wrapped Boxes
I purchased items new from a retail hobby shop.
Boxes are shrink-wrapped and have never been opened.
Box for 271 is a little out of shape on right side front.
Stored in a clean, heated and air-conditioned space.

Simplon Tunnel
The Swiss Alps are a major barrier for vehicle and rail traffic between
Italy and central European countries. Two major routes are used.
The Gotthard Pass (and tunnels) is the most famous and is used for
traffic from Italy to northern Switzerland and Germany.
The other route is the Simplon Pass and Tunnel. This route is used
for traffic from Italy to northern Switzerland and France.
The Simplon Tunnel connects the Swiss town of Brig with Iselle in Italy.
It consists of two single-track tunnels built nearly 20 years apart.
Work began on the Simplon Tunnel in 1898 and it was opened in 1906.
The second tube was opened in 1922. The dates on the northern portal
are a year earlier - 1905 and 1921. The tunnel is 12-1/2 miles long.
Major structural renovation was done from 1985 to 2003 to lower the
track bed to accommodate taller freight cars.
The tunnel is 1-1/3 mile beneath the top of the mountain. The workers
encountered an underground river and many hot springs during construction.
At times the workers found themselves standing in waist high hot water.
The temperature of the rock in some areas was a high as 131 degrees F
and air temperatures were as high as 122 degrees F. During construction
a massive amount of ice cooled air was pumped into the tunnel.
