Carmen Sandiego, that criminal mastermind, is up to her old tricks once more. Players must track down her cadre of crooks and put them behind bars before going after Carmen Sandiego herself. In addition, they must figure out where Carmen is going to pull off her one-of-a-kind heist and stop her before she gets away with it.
Players travel to different locations around the globe, collecting clues about the crook's next stop and putting together enough of a description to get a warrant. Once a crook has been tracked to a specific city, the player must use the description of the crook in the warrant to collar the criminal, with the help of one of the "good guides."
The "good guides" can also show players around the 50 different countries covered in the game. An additional game has been added, where players can try to identify words and phrases in foreign languages. If enough words and phrases are identified correctly, the player can uncover additional V.I.L.E. crooks (namely Robocrook) at each location.
