Candlelight Silver Renaissance Silverware 1950's From the City of Florence comes this 6 piece diningware set. I also have the original box, and the original insert printed in Italy. Each piece contains its symbols. Thisis a promo item that was offered by the Candlelight Silver Co. in the 1950's. However, the company could not keep up with demand. The doors were closed and the promo discontinued. The Mythological figures on each piece are: GIGLIO- Lily of Florence, JULIUS CAESAR- Emperor of Rome, WINGED LION- of Venice, ROMULUS & REMUS, THEIR WOLF-MOTHER- the founders of Rome, GRIFFON OF PERUGIA-scene of tragic love of Romeo & Juliet, APOLLO the Sun God- poetry, music, philosophy, & the art of healing. Contains, 1- Butter knife, 1- Olive two prong fork, 1-Pickle three prong fork, 1- Teaspoon, 1-Sugar spoon, & 1- Mustard spoon. Sizes range from 3.5" to 6". Very little wear considering the age of this set. Individual pieces can be found, a complete set with box and insert are much more rare.
