Some history of the Medicine Buddha:

The Buddha's teaching on suffering is the point of departure and core of the Buddha’s thought. Human suffering must be eliminated. The Buddha can be seen as a physician because he diagnosed suffering and developed his teachings on liberation, or Dharma, as medicine.
This system was expanded to the Eight Medicine Buddhas. Of these eight the blue Buddha Bhaisajyaguru is the most important. He attained great popularity and is the only one who is depicted by himself without the other seven. In popular belief, looking at or touching a Thangka of medicine Buddhas has a curative effect.
Bhaisajyaguru
Bhaisajyaguru has the characteristic body color, blue. Possibly, this color is connected with his title, Lord of the Lapis Lazuli ( or Lifth ). Ground gemstones were ingredients in medications as was expensive blue lapis. Bhaisajyaguru means “Supreme Healer,” “the Lord Who has a Healing Effect.”
He rests his left hand on his lap, and his upwardly-opened palm holds a beggar’s bowl. In the bowl lies a fruit from the healing herb. The plant is a Myrobalan plum, a variety that is used as a laxative, or purgative.
Illness occurs when the balance among the three bodily fluids comprising the human - air, bile, and mucus - is disturbed. Such a disturbance can arise when there is an imbalance in the component parts of the fluids, the five elements of earth, water, fire, air, and ether (prana).
In the Buddhist sense, hatred, wanting (desire), and ignorance (stupidity) are the main ailments that torment and poison the body and soul. They disturb the balance of bodily fluids so that illness arises. There are also external influences at work that can negatively impact the body, such as evil spirits, a particular position of the planets, negative karma, improper food, and irreligious behavior. The religious cure is right thinking and acting. Calling on particular deities and meditation may be part of the therapy.
Old Tibetan health care comprised a combination of somatic and psycho-philosophical healing. In regard to the former healing method, the doctor would give nutritional advice and administer pills made from minerals and herbs. There are dozens of combinations of different plant extracts. Animal parts too, such as snake skin, processed reptiles, ground tiger bone or rhinoceros horn, might be part of the medication, of course in smaller quantities than plants and minerals, partly in view of the price.

Bhaisajyaguru as seen here as the Blue Medicine Buddha is a direct emanation of Shakyamuni Buddha.

This painting is really stunning. On my last trip to Nepal I looked at thousands of Thangkas and ended up getting about forty. I really made an effort to carefully select only painting that I would love to own myself that were unique and in very good condition.

No noticeable flaws and the canvas is in great shape as well.

I know who ever gets this painting is going to be very happy with it.
