" Football fans will find the answers to these and hundreds of other questions in THE STORY OF FOOTBALL.
In this colorful chronicle {actually filled with black & white photos ;-)}
of the exciting gridiron sport, Robert Leckie traces the development of football from a disorganized free-for-all to the highly complex game we know today.
He shows how professional football grew out of the college sport, and vividly re-creates the traditional rivalries, the famous stars and the great games that all combined to make football "the autumn fever." "

" Here are the superstars, like Red Grange, Jim Thorpe, Whizzer White, Paul Hornung, and Jimmy Brown;
here are the arch rivals, such as Army-Navy, Southern Cal-Notre Dame, Harvard-Yale;
and here are thrilling accounts of the games that made new champions and toppled the old ones. "

Crammed with fascinating photographs and anecdotes, it should provide hours of intriguing entertainment. "
