The world of indoor gardening is a fascinating one.  It creates a climate of living beauty in our home and provides a hobby that is infinitely satisfying and creative.

Must you have "green thumbs" to have flourishing house plants?  Not at all.  There are many plants that are easy to grow -- new varieties as well as sturdy breeds of perennial favorites.  What you need are clear, concise instructions for care and cultivation, and a means of identifying the numerous house plants available today.

To meet these needs The Woman's Day Book of House Plants came into existence.  The heart of the book, "A Dictionary of House Plants," was one of the most popular features ever published in Woman's Day.  In response to thousands of requests for a permanent reference book based on the feature, the "Dictionary" is here made available in expanded form with additional plants and added features on indoor gardening.

The text by Jean Hersey combines a charming style with much sound information about plants and their care.  Mrs. Hersey is a frequent contributor to Woman's Day and an ardent gardener.

Harry Marinsky's finely detailed illustrations precisely capture the colorful beauty of the 191 house plants in the book.  Mr. Marinsky, too, is an expert gardener and a regular contributor to Woman's Day.
