Yixing Tea Pot

This Yixing teapot is made in Jiangsu province, an area situated 120 miles northwest of Shanghai China. This teapot has a traditional bamboo design and is commonly used by elite scholar for centuries.

For centuries now, the Yixing teapots are known to be the best vessel for brewing tea. With continued usage the purple clay, from which the Yixing teapots are made, will absorb the aroma and flavors of your tea. They have the ability to withstand high temperatures and are slow to conduct heat; therefore, the handle remains comfortably cool even when pouring very hot tea.

Yixing teapot was first produced during the Sung Dynasty (A.D. 960 - 1280) but did not flourish until the Ming Dynasty (1600). Throughout the ages they are renowned for their unique artistry and practical usage by incorporating the concepts of aesthetic beauty and natural harmony.
