This vintage souvenir plate was part of a well-loved collection of travel souvenirs. I believe it dates from the 1950s or 1960s. It is a souvenir of the state of South Dakota.
It has a gorgeous gold gilt 1 1/4 inch wide rim with a raised relief design. Inside the gold rim it says "South Dakota". It has multi-colored illustrations of the Badlands National Monument, The Corn Palace in Mitchell, Sioux Reservation, University of South Dakota in Vermillion, Mount Rushmore, Placer Mining, Campanile Brookings, The Needles Black Hills, Ranching, and Wheat Combines. There is also a silhouette of the State of South Dakota and illustrations of the State Capitol, the State Flower and a dinosaur.
The plate measures 9 1/8 inches in diameter. It is highly glazed and shows very slight wear and a tiny bit of crazing to be expected in a piece of this age. There are no cracks, chips, hairlines, or other issues. The colors are bright and vivid. I would consider this wonderful piece to be in mint condition.
