This listing is for a St. John Evening by Marie Gray long gown or dress. The color of the gown is black. The fabric is the Santana knit. The size tag on the gown has been cut out for some reason. The dress appears to be on the smaller side. Here are the approximate measurements of the dress. Please note that these measurements are approximate. I approximated where the waist and the hip area of the dress are. The measurement across the front, from underarm to underarm, is approximately 20 inches. The measurement of the waist area is approximately 18.5 inches. The measurement of the hip area is approximately 21.5 inches. The dress looks like a columnar type dress, which somewhat of a straight, form fitting cut. The front center slit would provide some give and slight flare to that area of the dress, I would expect. The label says St. John Evening by Marie Gray. There is another small label on a side seam that says ‘Professionally dry clean only; cover buttons; turn garment inside out.’ There are no paper tags on this gown. This gown has been pre-owned, but does not look as if it has been worn. The gown has no stains or holes. The only flaw I see in this dress is an extra nub of fabric on the center back of the collar. It is not a pull or a hole. I was not able to get this to show up in a photograph. The dress is floor or ankle length, and has long straight sleeves. The gown has a collar, which buttons at the neck with a large gold fancy button. This could probably be worn unbuttoned as well. The dress has shoulder pads. The back of the collar is lined with a black slippery woven fabric, and has a design on it in gold embroidery and with gold shiny circles on it. This design is under the collar, so would not show while being worn. The back of the center row of buttons is lined with a strip of this same black slippery woven fabric. There is an opening below the button, which I think is called a keyhole neckline. There is a line of smaller gold buttons down the front of the dress. They stop at a deep center front slit in the dress. The back of the dress has long darts for shaping on either side of the center. This is a very striking looking and elegant dress, and would be a perfect dress for formal occasions. The color of this dress is a dark black. Some of the photos make it look lighter than it is.
