St. Anthony, the founder of monasticism, is depicted in this medal in his monk's robes. He was born rich but was called by God to sell his possessions and then led an ascetic life. He lived alone in the desert the Nile River, but eventually other like-minded souls gathered around him.

This vintage sterling medal measures a total of just under 1" long. The back side shows the handwork of a crosshatch pattern. It is stamped "925" along with a maker's mark. The large jump ring is also stamped "925".
